Walking through life with Jesus is the most awesome place to be! Each day brings new opportunities to learn more about who He is and how much He loves us! In John 8:12 Jesus teaches the disciples, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (NASB) Jesus lights our path! He’s there to lead us every step of the way! Don’t forget, the enemy loves to try and trip us up or distract us by shifting our focus from Jesus to other things. One thing we can’t do is focus on the past. How will you walk forward if you are constantly looking behind you? Jesus paid the price for our sin in full. That means your sin was wiped out! Why spend time dwelling on things that God doesn’t even remember anymore? Constantly looking at the rear-view mirror and visiting the things that Jesus said are finished allows the past to infect your present, which stops you from your future. Because of the cross, we can go forward with no guilt, no shame, and no condemnation because Jesus paid the price to set us free from all of it! Your pastor can help you but he does not have the ability to keep you right with God…Pastors, teachers, leaders are great, but they aren’t your hookup to God. They are here to equip the saints to works of ministry – not to keep you right with God. Holy Spirit has been given for us to enter into a place of learning DIRECTLY from God! Another way to get off track is to focus on performance. Some think that by works we gain true value in the Kingdom but we don’t have to strive to be more pleasing to God. God sent Jesus to do the work on the cross so we could be right with the Father. He loves us that much – it’s not based on what we can do it’s based on what Jesus already did! Our focus should be on Jesus alone! In Ephesians 1:18-19, Paul prayed, “that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” (NASB) By keeping our focus on Jesus, we have hope, can know the riches of His glory, and we will see His power at work in our lives! How amazing is that?! Keep your eyes on Jesus!!! |
